What’s in the name?
The name ‘Konqueror’ comes from the word ‘Conqueror’ with the ‘K’ since we are in the ‘K’ (Kilo) squadron of the NDA (National Defence Academy, Pune - learn more here and here). The name itself says it all. To be a Konqueror means,
The one who overcomes all obstacles, desires and surmounts,
The one who overcomes the enemy and defeats all who challenge,
The one who gains control or possession by force or war, and wins,
A Konqueror is a winner, champion, conquistador, defeater, hero, lord, master, subjugator, vanquisher, victor…
As per the traditions of NDA after our splendid camp Greenhorn conducted in our IInd term in Spring Term 2003 (March) we were faced with the task of choosing a suitable course name. Coming nothing less than first in the camp and being the winner of the prestigious Greenhorn plaque the need arose to highlight our fighting and winning capabilities. Thus was suggested the name ‘Konqueror’ which filled the requirement perfectly.
